APA 7th Preferred Spelling

According to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2019, p. 161) 6.11 Preferred Spelling:

Spelling in APA Style Papers should conform to the Merriam-Webster.com Dictionary (https://merriam-webster.com).

The spelling of psychological terms should conform to the APA Dictionary of Psychology (https://dictionary.apa.org).

If a word appears differently in these two dictionaries, follow the spelling in the APA Dictionary of Psychology. If a

word is in neither of these dictionaries, consult an unabridged edition of Webster's dictionary

(see https://unabridged.merriam-webster.com). If the dictionary offers a choice of spellings, select one and use it

consistently throughout your paper.
