Grizzly Shelves

Research guide for the Grizzly Shelves collection

What are Grizzly Shelves?

“Grizzly Shelves” are print and electronic titles selected especially for students by GGC faculty and by participating Registered Student Organizations (clubs and organizations), and these are shelved by schools in a special area on the 1st floor of Kaufman Library (at the end of the Popular materials section, across from the vending machines).

This is a pilot program which began in fall 2022. Kaufman Library asked each college department and registered student organizations to choose their “top” books and videos students need to see and use when they walk out of classrooms and into the library. In particular, faculty and librarians want to encourage ALL students to engage in learning with Grizzly Shelves, and improve equity in education through relevant, engaging, and inclusive collections that are centered on students’ needs.

Please use the links on the sidebar to explore the collections, or visit the library and browse in person! All physical titles on these pages can be browsed in the Kaufman Library's Catalog, where you can find their current availability and place requests (14-day checkout with renewals for books; limited to GGC students and faculty/staff only). All of the eBooks and online streaming films are linked directly from this guide (electronic resources access for GGC students and faculty/staff only).

Enjoy!
