How Do I Renew?

Online (GGC Students, Faculty, and Staff):

  1. Go to the Kaufman Library homepage.
  2. Under Resources, click on My Library Account.
  3. Log in with your current GGC login credentials (the same user I.D. and password you use for email).
  4. Locate the item you wish to renew.
  5. If the status of the item says it's renewable, click on Renew
  6. If your action was successful, you will see Renewed and a new due date for the item will appear.
  7. Don't forget to sign out!

Note:  Items can't be renewed if you have fines over $5, your library account is blocked, or the item has already been renewed the maximum number of times.

In Person (Kaufman Library materials only; all patrons):

  1. Come to the Circulation Desk of the Kaufman Library.
  2. Bring all the materials you wish to renew.
  3. An Access Services staff person will assist you.

Note:  Library materials can't be renewed by phone.

What If I'm Overdue?

GGC Students, Faculty, & Staff:

  • Requests for Interlibrary Loan materials cannot be honored until the GGC or GIL Express items are returned.
  • You are blocked in BANNER:

    • Faculty & Staff: You will not receive your final paycheck if you leave GGC.

Gwinnett County Public Library and Gwinnett Technical College Patrons:

Long Overdue Items (also known as "Lost Status"):

  • Replacement and processing fees are attached to your account.  These will be removed when you return the library materials in good condition.
  • "Lost Status" items must be returned to the Kaufman Library and checked back in before a patron can check them out again.

FYI

Media Equipment

  • Items available for check-out include laptops and iPads (7-day and 4-hour), video cameras, digital cameras, microphones, and tripods.
  • Prior to check-out, patrons are required to read and sign a GGC Media Equipment Borrowing Agreement and Disclaimer form.
  • For more information about media equipment, click here.

GIL Express

  • GIL Express books cannot be renewed at the Circulation Desk.  They must be renewed online.  If that option is not available, they must be returned.  They can then be reordered as a new request.

Reference Books, Academic Journals, Popular Magazines, and Newspapers

  • These items cannot be checked out.  They must be used inside the library.

Textbooks

  • The Kaufman Library does not usually purchase current textbooks.  Check the Kaufman Library catalog to see if yours is available.
  • Your professor may have put a copy of your textbook on course reserve.  Check the library catalog under "Course Reserves."
  • Current textbooks cannot be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
