Loan Periods

GGC Students:

  • GGC Books:  28 days with two renewals
  • GGC Popular Fiction/Nonfiction Collection:  14 days with one renewal
  • GGC DVDs:  5 days with one renewal
  • GGC Course Reserve Items (temporarily unavailable):  varies (usually two hours with in-library-use only)
  • GIL Express Books:  28 days with two renewals
  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials:  varies with the lender
  • Graphing Calculators:  4 hours with one renewal, or one day
  • Whiteboard Kits (temporarily unavailable):  4 hours (in-library-use-only) with one renewal
  • May check out up to 15 GGC items at a time

GGC Faculty and Staff:

  • GGC Books:  90 days with two renewals
  • GGC Popular Fiction/Nonfiction Collection:  14 days with one renewal
  • GGC DVDs:  5 days with one renewal
  • GIL Express Books:  28 days with two renewals
  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) materials:  varies with the lender 
  • Graphing Calculators:  4 hours with one renewal or one day
  • Whiteboard Kits (temporarily unavailable):  4 hours (in-library-use-only) with one renewal
  • May check out up to 50 GGC items at a time

University System of Georgia Students, Faculty, and Staff:

  • GGC Books:  28 days with two renewals (GIL Express or as a walk-up patron)
  • GGC DVDs:   5 days with one renewal (walk-up patron only; return to GGC in person!)

GGC Campus Partners (Example:  Aramark employees working on the GGC Campus):

  • GGC Books:  28 days with two renewals​
  • GGC Popular Fiction/Nonfiction Collection:  14 days with one renewal
  • GGC DVDs:  5 days with one renewal

Gwinnett County Public Library and Gwinnett Technical College Patrons:

How Do I Renew?

Online (GGC Students, Faculty, and Staff):

  1. Go to the Kaufman Library homepage.
  2. Under Resources, click on My Library Account.
  3. Log in with your current GGC login credentials (the same user I.D. and password you use for email).
  4. Locate the item you wish to renew.  
  5. If the status of the item says it's renewable, click on Renew
  6. If your action was successful, you will see Renewed and a new due date for the item will appear.
  7. Don't forget to sign out! 

    Note:  Items cannot be renewed if you have fines over $5, the item is overdue, your library account is blocked, or the item has already been renewed the maximum number of times.

In Person (Kaufman Library materials only; all patrons):

  1. Come to the Circulation Desk of the Kaufman Library.
  2. Bring all the materials you wish to renew.
  3. An Access Services staff person will assist you.

            Note:  Library materials can't be renewed by phone. GIL Express materials may only be renewed online.

What If I'm Overdue?

GGC Students, Faculty, & Staff:

  • You cannot renew items, check out additional library materials, or make a GIL Express request.
  • Requests for Interlibrary Loan materials cannot be honored until the GGC or GIL Express items are returned.
  • You are blocked in BANNER:
    • Students: You cannot register for classes, get your grades, obtain a transcript, or be cleared for graduation.
    • Faculty & Staff: You will not receive your final paycheck if you leave GGC.

University System of Georgia Students, Faculty, and Staff:

  • You cannot renew items, check out additional library materials, or make a GIL Express request.
  • You may be blocked in BANNER at your home school or be unable to make Interlibrary Loan requests.

GGC Campus Partners (Aramark, etc.):

  • You cannot renew items or check out additional library materials.

Gwinnett County Public Library and Gwinnett Technical College Patrons:

Long Overdue Items (also known as "Lost Status"):

  • Replacement and processing fees are attached to your account.  These will be removed when you return the library materials in good condition.
  • "Lost Status" items must be returned to the Kaufman Library and checked back in before a patron can check them out again.
