Access Services at the Daniel J. Kaufman Library & Learning Center: Fines and Fees

Are there fines or fees on library materials?

GGC Students, Faculty, and Staff (includes GGC and GIL Express materials):

  • Usually, there are no overdue fines on non-reserve books and DVDs that can be checked out and taken home.
    • Exceptions:
      • Long-overdue ("Lost Status") materials will have lost replacement and processing fees attached to your library account.  At Kaufman Library at GGC, these fees are removed once the items are returned in good condition.
      • Other University System of Georgia (USG) schools may have different policies regarding overdue or "Lost Status" materials.
  • 7-Day Laptops & iPads:  $50.00 per day (each item).
  • 4-Hour Laptops & iPads:  $10.00 per hour (each item)
  • Camera Equipment:  $1.00 per item, per day.
  • Course Reserve items:
    • Two-Hour Reserve (In-Library-Use-Only):  $1.00 per item, per hour.
    • One-Day, Three-Day, or One-Week Reserve:  $1.00 per item, per day.

Gwinnett County Public Library and Gwinnett Technical College Patrons:

  • 25 cents per book, per day.

Fees on damaged or lost items (GGC, GIL Express, and Interlibrary Loan):

  • Vary according to the replacement cost of the item.
  • Patrons also incur a processing fee of $4.50 per item on GGC books and DVDs.
  • GIL Express books and Interlibrary Loan materials may also have processing fees.
